Tom Graham left Pleasant Valley and moved to Tempe where settled down and married a local girl, Annie Melton. It looked the feud was over. Then, on a road just outside of Tempe on August 2nd, , Ed Tewksbury and John Rhodes ambushed and gunned down Tom Graham. Pollyanna makes people see the good in life rather than the sad and negative. The book is not, however, a sermon, nor is it's tone preachy. It is a solid adventure/romance tale with many familiar but engaging elements. The poor orphan girl arrives in a strange place, lives in the "big house on the hill," and, through her liveliness and.

Pollyanna was a character in a children's book of the same name. She always played the glad game, where she would find something to be optimistic about even in the most negative situations. I think as a name it's quite pretty though it'd be odd to name a girl Pollyanna today, just because it's so old fashioned. The whole town is playing the game, and the whole town is wonderfully happier—and all because of one little girl who taught the people a new game, and how to play it. Suddenly orphaned, Pollyanna is sent across the country to a small town in Vermont, where she will live with her strict Aunt Polly. But Pollyanna doesn't seem to notice how stern and unfeeling her aunt really is. /5(4).

The Pleasant Valley book series by Anna Brooks includes books Fixing Fate, Love, Me, and Steady. See the complete Pleasant Valley series book list in order, box sets or omnibus editions, and companion titles. Pollyanna is young and innocent and doesn’t preach. She simply plays her “glad game” and it starts to change people’s lives. Many who’ve seen the Disney movie won’t realize that Pollyanna is a very Christian book. Pollyanna’s father was a traveling minister.
